We are continually exploring a range of ideas in an endeavour to make the food bank more sustainable and less reliant on donations in the long term. We work with local communities to research their needs and generate ideas for projects to support food security and potential employment opportunities for local people to help them return to earning a sustainable income.
These projects are currently in various stages of development. A big thank you to our volunteers and consultants for sharing their valuable time, expertise and knowledge in helping us plan and develop these projects.
Community Garden
This project commenced in November 2021. The aim of the community garden project is to help make the Siem Reap Food Bank (SRFB) more sustainable and to supplement the monthly food hampers with a few fresh vegetables.
The garden is producing seasonal produce.
Nutrition Mapping Project
Urban hunger is a major issue in Siem Reap. This study seeks to determine the prevalence of malnutrition in elderly people living within Siem Reap city.
SRFB NGO Registration
The Siem Reap Food Bank (SRFB) is working through the process to register as a local not-for-profit Non-Government Organisation (NGO) with the Ministry of Interior (MoI). We have completed the documentation, we now need to raise funds for the registration fee.
Bee Farm Feasibility Study
A bee farm was identified as a potential form of employment for people in need of food security. We are currently conducting a feasibility study for implementing a bee farm.
Working Together
The Siem Reap Food Bank is collaborating with Building Community Cambodia and Bracelets for Buildings to build new homes for six Grannies who have been evicted from Angkor Wat Park. They have land and we have a team of builders, but we need US$30,000 to build new homes.
SRFB Donate Now
& Help End Hunger
A basic food care pack will help feed an average family of 4 for one month. The cost includes US$5 cash to assist families with utility costs and a delivery fee of US$3. The delivery fee helps to take care of a tuk-tuk driver with a disability and his family. Since March 2020 we have served over 300 needy families. We continue to provide food, supplies and toiletries for the most vulnerable families in Siem Reap. However, we need your help to keep fighting hunger.
